I.T.’s all just about the right balance

Celebrations are underway between two local Wiltshire based firms, Swindon based IT consultancy Double Click Computing, and the software developer Datalight Solutions Ltd, who, at the beginning of 2007, decided to join forces to enable local businesses to consolidate both their hardware and software under one complete IT business solution.

Experienced network consultant Oliver Donachie (Double Click Computing) and established software developer David Daley (Datalight Solutions Ltd) have come together to create Datalibrium, to enable both skill sets to be brought together as one packaged service.

David told us, “We really try to focus on increasing the capacity of our clients businesses, by helping them clearly define their business processes and then by creating systems based on that knowledge.  This in turn leads to a release of pressure on existing staff in order to make the day to day running of the business easier and inevitably more profitable.  We often find that our clients progress is very much limited by the methods used to implement their vision in the real world, a world packed full of complex spreadsheets and paper trails.  Tackling these limiting factors with tailor-made software on a robust hardware back-bone, soon takes the pressure off survival and allows our clients to focus on filling the extra capacity in their business that we create.”

Oliver added “When we start working with a new client, they tend to see us as network engineers and project-based programmers.  Before too long, we become not only trusted providers of hardware and networking stability & protection, but also take a natural role as business process consultants really getting stuck into streamlining the way the client processes their workloads, and helping businesses get clear about the specifics of how their company runs.”

Datalibrium very much see their offering as a service rather than a product, in partnership with the client business, learning together and developing flexible solutions that can grow as the needs of the business evolve. With a combined total of 50 years of delivering such services, the Datalibrium team understand all too well that business is sometimes unpredictable and that the value of a swift response, an emphasis on service rather than getting too tied down by specifications, is what makes their clients feel that they would not want to be doing business without them alongside.

Emma Faramarzi, technical account manager stated “in just six months we’ve already built on a client base over a broad range of industries, including construction, accountancy, warehousing & distribution, and blue chip multimedia technologies. I’m very proud to be working with such a dedicated team, with such a diverse client base it is plain to see that we make a difference”.

In 1967 Stanley Milgram created the “six degrees of separation” theory where anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries.  In 2007, any business is only 6 numbers away from perfectly balanced IT systems – Swindon 491042.
